Compare Archives

Compare two ZIPs (or two sets of files) and see which files were added, removed or changed.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Compare Archives works

Both archives are opened in your browser and each file is fingerprinted with SHA-1. Paths are matched, and changed text files open a line diff so you can see exactly what moved.

Input: ZIP, JAR, APK, DOCX, Files. Output: CSV.

How to use Compare Archives

  1. Drop the old version.
  2. Drop the new version.
  3. Click any changed file to see the difference.
  4. Download the report as CSV.

Tips

  • Nothing is uploaded. Your files stay in this browser tab.

Compare Archives FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
