Open Any Archive

Open ZIP, 7Z, RAR, TAR, GZ, XZ, ISO, CAB, DEB, RPM, JAR and more. Preview files and download what you need.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Open Any Archive works

Archives are opened and packed by 7-Zip compiled to WebAssembly (7z-wasm, LGPL-2.1 with the unRAR licence restriction). It is a separate engine file of about 1.6 MB that your browser downloads once and caches, and it runs in a background thread so the page stays responsive. The whole archive is unpacked in memory, shown as a folder tree, and you can preview text, images, audio, video and PDFs before saving.

Input: ZIP, 7Z, RAR, TAR, GZ, TGZ, BZ2, XZ, ZST, LZMA, CAB, ISO, CPIO, DEB, RPM, ARJ, LZH, CHM, DMG, WIM, JAR, APK, IPA. Output: Files, ZIP.

How to use Open Any Archive

  1. Drop an archive file.
  2. Type the password if the archive is locked.
  3. Browse the folder tree and click a file to preview it.
  4. Tick the files you want and download them, or save one file with its own button.

Tips

  • A .tar.gz or .tar.xz is unpacked in one go, you do not need to extract twice.
  • Very large archives need free memory in the browser. Close other tabs if it fails.

Open Any Archive FAQ

Can it open password protected archives?
Yes. ZIP (including AES-256), 7Z and RAR passwords are supported. The password never leaves your device.
Does it support multi-part RAR files?
Single-file archives are supported. Split archives (part1, part2) need all parts in one file, so join them first.
Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
