Subtitle Translator

Translate SRT, VTT or ASS files into 50+ languages on your device, keeping every timestamp.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Subtitle Translator works

Translation uses the NLLB-200 distilled model through Transformers.js (ONNX Runtime Web). The model is about 900 MB, downloads once and is cached. NLLB weights are released by Meta under CC-BY-NC 4.0, so they are for personal, non-commercial use. Each line is translated on its own, so the timing never changes.

Input: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, LRC, TTML. Output: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, LRC, SMI, TTML, JSON, CSV.

How to use Subtitle Translator

  1. Drop a subtitle file.
  2. Pick the source and target language.
  3. Translate and check the result side by side.
  4. Download, optionally keeping the original line too.

Tips

  • Nothing is uploaded. Your files stay in this browser tab.

Subtitle Translator FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
