Input: SRT, VTT, ASS, SBV, SUB, LRC, MP4, WEBM, MOV. Output: SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SBV, SUB, LRC, SMI, TTML, JSON, CSV.

How to use Subtitle Editor

  1. Drop a video and a subtitle file, or start empty.
  2. Play the video and add or edit lines.
  3. Use Set start and Set end to match the speech.
  4. Download in the format you need.

Tips

  • Lines shown in amber are too fast to read (over 21 characters per second) or overlap the next line.
  • Space plays and pauses, [ and ] set times for the selected line.

Subtitle Editor FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
