Media Metadata Remover

Strip GPS location, phone model, dates and every other tag from videos and audio without re-encoding.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Media Metadata Remover works

Everything runs in your browser. Files and text are never uploaded, so the private data you are protecting never leaves your device. The ffmpeg engine copies the streams as they are and drops container and stream metadata, so quality and size stay the same.

Input: MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM, MP3, M4A, FLAC, WAV. Output: Same format.

How to use Media Metadata Remover

  1. Drop videos or audio files.
  2. Press Show what is inside to see the tags.
  3. Press Remove metadata.
  4. Download the clean copies.

Tips

  • Nothing is uploaded, so you can use these tools on sensitive files.
  • Share passwords a different way than the file itself.
  • Always check a cleaned or redacted file before you send it.

Media Metadata Remover FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
