How AI Depth Map works

The model runs with Transformers.js and ONNX Runtime inside a background worker, so the page never freezes. It downloads once from the Hugging Face model hub and is then cached by your browser, so it works offline. With WebGPU it uses your graphics card, without it the CPU. Your files are never uploaded. It uses Depth Anything V2 small, which guesses how far each pixel is from the camera.

Input: JPG, PNG, WEBP. Output: PNG, JPG.

How to use AI Depth Map

Drop a photo.
Pick the detail level and press Make depth map.
Choose colours, or switch to Portrait blur and set the focus distance.
Download the depth PNG or the blurred photo.

Tips

Depth maps are useful for 3D parallax effects, lithophanes and displacement in 3D apps.
