Data Export Explorer
Drop any "download your data" ZIP and see what is inside: every file, every list of records with its date range, as tables you can save.
Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.
How Data Export Explorer works
Your export is read inside this tab. Nothing is uploaded, no account or login is needed, and closing the tab clears it. The ZIP is listed without unpacking it all. Every JSON or JS data file is opened and walked to find lists of records; each list shows its size, field names and the date range of any time field. Open a list to see it as a table and save it as CSV.
Input: ZIP, JSON, JS. Output: CSV.
How to use Data Export Explorer
- Ask a service for a copy of your data and download the ZIP.
- Drop it here.
- See which service it is, the biggest folders and every list of records.
- Open a list as a table and download CSV.
Tips
- Exports hold your private messages, places and habits. Here they are read inside the tab and never uploaded.
- Most services take from a few minutes to a few days to prepare an export, so ask early.
- Keep the original ZIP. These tools never change it.
Data Export Explorer FAQ
- Which services does it know?
- It recognises Spotify, Instagram, ChatGPT, Claude, Google Takeout, X, Netflix, Facebook, Discord, TikTok, WhatsApp and LinkedIn by their file names, and it reads any JSON lists of records from other services too.
- Does it unpack the whole ZIP?
- No. The ZIP is listed first and each JSON file is opened only when it is scanned, so large exports do not fill your memory.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
- Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
- Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
