Blur & Redact Image
Auto-detect faces or paint areas to blur or pixelate.
Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.
How Blur & Redact Image works
Blur & Redact Image runs entirely in your browser. Auto-detect faces or paint areas to blur or pixelate. Under the hood it uses Shape Detection API (the browser’s native face detector where available; manual painting works everywhere). Your files are read into this tab’s memory, processed on your own CPU, and handed back to you as a download. Nothing is sent to a server.
Input: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, BMP.
How to use Blur & Redact Image
- Drop one or more images onto Blur & Redact Image.
- Tune the options. The before/after preview updates live.
- Process the batch.
- Download a single image, or everything as a ZIP.
Tips
- Most image tools accept many files at once.
- WebP and AVIF give much smaller files than JPG at the same visual quality.
- Set a default image quality in Settings. Tools that do not choose their own quality use it.
Blur & Redact Image FAQ
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
- Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
- Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
