Archive Converter

Convert RAR, 7Z, TAR, ISO, CAB and more to ZIP, 7Z or TAR, keeping folders and names.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Archive Converter works

Archives are opened and packed by 7-Zip compiled to WebAssembly (7z-wasm, LGPL-2.1 with the unRAR licence restriction). It is a separate engine file of about 1.6 MB that your browser downloads once and caches, and it runs in a background thread so the page stays responsive. The source is unpacked and packed again in the new format.

Input: RAR, 7Z, ZIP, TAR, TGZ, ISO, CAB, GZ, XZ, BZ2. Output: ZIP, 7Z, TAR, TAR.GZ, TAR.XZ, TAR.BZ2, TAR.ZST.

How to use Archive Converter

  1. Drop an archive.
  2. Pick the new format.
  3. Optionally add a password to the new ZIP or 7Z.
  4. Convert and download.

Tips

  • Nothing is uploaded. Your files stay in this browser tab.

Archive Converter FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
