PII Redactor

Find and mask emails, phone numbers, card numbers, IBANs, IPs, Aadhaar, PAN and SSNs in text before you share it.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How PII Redactor works

Everything happens in your browser with the Web Crypto API and plain JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, so the files and passwords never leave this device. Card numbers are confirmed with the Luhn check and IBANs with their mod 97 checksum, which keeps false matches low.

Input: Text, TXT, CSV, PDF, DOCX, LOG. Output: TXT, CSV.

How to use PII Redactor

  1. Paste text or open a file.
  2. Pick which kinds of data to find.
  3. Choose how to replace them: label, numbered token, partial or blocks.
  4. Copy or download the redacted text and the report.

Tips

  • Numbered tokens keep the same person consistent, which helps when you share logs with support.

PII Redactor FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
