Compare GPX Tracks

Lay two tracks over each other and compare distance, time, pace and climb, how closely they match and who was ahead at each km.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Compare GPX Tracks works

Tracks and coordinates are read in your browser. Map tiles are only fetched if you switch the map background on; your file stays here. Route match is measured as the distance from each point to the other track. Time gaps need timestamps in both files.

Input: GPX, TCX, KML, GeoJSON. Output: Text.

How to use Compare GPX Tracks

  1. Drop two tracks.
  2. Read the side by side stats.
  3. Check the match and the gap at each km.

Tips

  • The map has no background tiles by default, so your location area is not sent anywhere. Turn on the map background if you want street detail.
  • Most watches and apps export GPX. Look for Export or Share in the activity menu.

Compare GPX Tracks FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
