GLB / glTF Optimizer
Shrink GLB and glTF files with Meshopt compression, quantisation, mesh simplification, deduplication and WebP texture resizing.
Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.
How GLB / glTF Optimizer works
The model is processed with glTF Transform (MIT): duplicates and unused data are removed, vertices welded, meshes optionally merged and simplified with meshoptimizer, textures resized and re-encoded with the browser, and geometry compressed with EXT_meshopt_compression. Draco-compressed input is decoded first.
Input: GLB, GLTF, BIN, PNG, JPG. Output: GLB.
How to use GLB / glTF Optimizer
- Drop a GLB, or a glTF with its .bin and textures.
- Pick the optimisations and the texture size and format.
- Press Optimise and compare before and after in the viewer.
- Download the optimised GLB.
Tips
- Textures are usually most of the file size. 1024 or 2048 px WebP is enough for most web scenes.
- Turn off Meshopt and WebP if your target app is older.
GLB / glTF Optimizer FAQ
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in this browser tab on your own device. Engines are downloaded once and cached, but your files never leave your computer.
- Does it output Draco?
- No. It reads Draco files but compresses with Meshopt, which decodes faster and is supported by three.js, Babylon.js and model-viewer.
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
- Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
- Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
