Geotag Photos from GPX

Add GPS location to JPG photos by matching their capture time to a GPX track from your watch or phone.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Geotag Photos from GPX works

Tracks and coordinates are read in your browser. Map tiles are only fetched if you switch the map background on; your file stays here. Each photo time is placed on the track and the position is interpolated between the two nearest points. Only the GPS tags are written, the image is not re-encoded.

Input: GPX, TCX, JPG. Output: ZIP.

How to use Geotag Photos from GPX

  1. Drop the GPX track.
  2. Drop the photos.
  3. Set the camera time zone and any clock offset.
  4. Press Geotag and download the ZIP.

Tips

  • The map has no background tiles by default, so your location area is not sent anywhere. Turn on the map background if you want street detail.
  • Most watches and apps export GPX. Look for Export or Share in the activity menu.

Geotag Photos from GPX FAQ

Are my files uploaded?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser tab. Files are read from your disk into memory and the result is generated locally.
Is it free? Are there limits or watermarks?
Free and open source (MIT). There are no file-size caps, daily quotas, accounts or watermarks.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once the page (and any engine it needs) has loaded, it keeps working without a connection thanks to the service worker cache.
