Distance & Bearing Calculator

Great circle distance, start and end bearing and midpoint between places, a destination from a bearing, or a route total.

Free, no uploads, no sign-up. Runs 100% in your browser.

How Distance & Bearing Calculator works

Tracks and coordinates are read in your browser. Map tiles are only fetched if you switch the map background on; your file stays here. Uses the haversine formula on a sphere of radius 6,371 km. Degrees, minutes and seconds are accepted as well as decimals.

Input: Coordinates. Output: Text.

How to use Distance & Bearing Calculator

  1. Type two places as latitude, longitude.
  2. Read distance, bearings and midpoint.
  3. Switch to Route for a list of points.

Tips

  • The map has no background tiles by default, so your location area is not sent anywhere. Turn on the map background if you want street detail.
  • Most watches and apps export GPX. Look for Export or Share in the activity menu.
